Lip Blush FAQ

A permanent makeup tattoo machine uses a very small needle to deposit the pigment colour onto your lips.

The micro-pigmentation process builds the colour slowly which allows the artist to have control over how dark or bold the colour will be.

How long the results last?

The results depending on your lifestyle, health and skin will last about 3 years.

It is important to come for yearly touch ups to keep the colour from fading and in order to keep it looking fresh and bright.

touch ups are at longer and we can make the colour darker, fix or alter the shape and fill in any spots that did not retain pigment during healing.

Does it hurt?

Most clients will say it is slightly uncomfortable however it is tolerable. I use a lot of numbing agents throughout the procedure to keep clients feeling comfortable.

It is important to follow the pre care instructions in order to feel most comfortable and to not bleed throughout the procedure.

How do I know if I need-Lip Neutralization or Lip Blush?

Look in the mirror and see if your lips look dark, brown, cool toned or have two tones in them. If this is the case, then we would first have to do a lip correction and then a lip blush colour.

Please email me a picture if you are unsure or if you have any further questions about this procedure.

Can I get lip blush if I have dark lips or hyper-pigmentation?

Yes you can! We will need to neutralize and cancel out the cool tones on the first 1-2 appointments (in some cases it may take more time). In order to neutralize and correct the darkness/ hyper-

pigmentation we will be adding an orange like colour since this colour can correct the cool tones in your lips. Many clients will ask if we could use another colour but unfortunately, we cannot as we would be risking making your lips even darker or having unpredictable results.

Once the lips have been neutralized and are one warm colour, then we can add a pinky lour to your lips. For dark or ^ per-pigmented lips, results cannot be guaranteed and may require a few sessions.

No, lip blush gives a natural tint to the lips and will not be as bold as lipstick. At first, your lips will look darker and they will heal 40-50% lighter.

Together we will pick a colour that is best suited for you. You may bring in your favourite everyday lipstick as we can match the colour.

How long does each appointment takes?

Each appointment will take anywhere from 2-3 hours and a touch up is 1-2 hours long.

The appointment includes a consultation, signing of the consent form, before pictures, deciding on the lip colour, pre drawing, numbing, tattooing, after pictures, an explanation of after care (after care ointment is provided) and booking the follow up appointment.

Can I get lip blush tattoo if I have or want to get lip fillers?

Yes you can! However, lip blush and lip fillers must be at least 4 weeks apart from each other. Lip blush is amazing for anyone who has received lip fillers as the lips attend to become paler in colour.

Lip fillers stretches the lip skin and can make the outline of your lips look blurred, lip blush is perfect for adding back any colour that has been lost during lip fillers.

What does the healing process look like and how long is it?

The healing process is about one week. Your lips may feel dry and it is important to follow all after care protocols in order to have amazing results. Your lips may also peel within the first week after your appointment and once they peel the lips will lighten in colour and by day 21 the colour will begin to darken again. Your lips may be swollen for up to 48 hours following the procedure.

Your lips may look patchy while healing which is normal which is due to your skin regenerating.

Please be patient as the healing process to see the true and final colour can take up to 8 weeks and multiple sessions may be necessary. Note that the final colour cannot be guaranteed as each individual heals differently and it depends on your skin and how you care for your lips after the tattoo.
